The Site Supervisor is vital to the successful operation of Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity. A successful candidate would be expected to uphold the Values of Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity:

The Site Supervisor provides leadership, orientation, supervises training and task management to construction volunteers and ensures their safety.



Site Supervisor Primary Duties:

  • On site early to prepare for the day and meet with volunteers
  • Meet regularly with the Construction Director to discuss the duties for each workday and arrange for the proper tools/materials to be ordered and on site ahead of time.
  • Orientation of the volunteers on what they will be doing for the day. This includes:
  • Giving an overview of Lakeshore Habitat
  • Explaining the day’s jobs to the volunteers after introductions/devotions
  • Stressing the importance of safety on the worksite
  • Set up crews for the day utilizing the skills and interests of the volunteers.
  • Supervise each task as necessary and assist with tasks that require special skills.
  • Make sure volunteers return tools, clean up site, and secure the site before they leave.
  • Be present for the entire work shift, providing skills and training to assist volunteers in completing the necessary jobs.
  • Ensure that volunteers have positive and successful experience, so they return again and again and build the potential for financial support.
  • Ensure volunteers follow the Lakeshore Habitat Safety Procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Positive and affirming personality.
  • Desire and ability to teach people basic construction tasks.
  • Strong commitment to the mission of Lakeshore Habitat.
  • Experienced with first aid/construction safety.
  • Michigan Residential Builders license, or willingness to pursue.
  • In depth knowledge of Michigan Residential Code

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of construction experience
  • Experience in leadership/instruction roles
  • Helpful if able to communicate in basic conversational Spanish.

Terms of Employment: This position is a part-time hourly position with a work schedule determined during the interview/hiring process. Looking for a candidate able to work at least 20 hours/week.  (Health care benefits become available at 30 hours/week)

Compensation is hourly at a rate to be determined by the Executive Director and the Construction Director. The site supervisor is an at-will, non-exempt employee.
